How to Install and Activate an eSIM (iOS & Android)

After payment, your eSIM QR code and activation code appear on the order page and in your email. Installation takes a few minutes. Install the profile before departure while you have Wi-Fi, then activate after you arrive — so you are never stuck without a connection, and validity starts when you actually begin using it.

Before you start

Confirm three things: your phone supports eSIM and is not carrier-locked; you have stable Wi-Fi or data; and you can open the QR code on your order page. Install before you travel, while you still have a connection.

Install on iOS

  1. Open Settings and go to Cellular (or Mobile Data).
  2. Tap Add eSIM or Add Cellular Plan.
  3. Scan the QR code on your order page with the camera; if you cannot scan, choose to enter details manually using the activation code (SM-DP+ address and activation code).
  4. Follow the prompts to finish. If you still need calls and texts, keep your primary SIM as the default line and set this eSIM as the Mobile Data line.
  5. On arrival, make sure Data Roaming is turned on for the eSIM line, and you are connected.

Install on Android

  1. Open Settings and find SIM manager or Mobile network.
  2. Choose Add eSIM or Add mobile plan (wording varies by brand).
  3. Scan the QR code on your order page; if you cannot scan, enter the activation code manually.
  4. After it is added, set this eSIM as the data line.
  5. On arrival, enable Data Roaming for that line to get online.

When to activate

Install early, but activate after you arrive. Most plans count validity from first network connection or activation, so activating too soon wastes validity. Each plan also has a latest activation date — activate before it, or an unused eSIM may no longer be usable or refundable.

If activation fails

Check the basics: stable Wi-Fi during setup, Data Roaming enabled for the eSIM line, the device is not carrier-locked, and you are in a country the plan covers. If it still fails, email support@sohogoto.com with your order ID and we will help.

Does validity start from purchase, install, or activation?
For most plans, validity starts from activation and first network connection, not the purchase date. Install early and activate on arrival. See the plan page for specifics.
Can I restore the eSIM after deleting it or switching phones?
Treat the eSIM as single-install. Deleting it usually cannot be undone, and most profiles cannot move to another phone. If you need to reinstall, contact support@sohogoto.com with your order ID before deleting.
If I install but have not arrived yet, does it start counting?
Installing the profile alone usually does not start the clock; most plans begin counting after activation and first connection. To be safe, enable Data Roaming only after you land.
